Fancy A Holiday On The Coast? Check Out These Incredible Destinations

I love getting out and about with the family whenever I can. When you are at home all day, any change of scenery is a good thing! And we all need that fresh air to help us feel human again after a sleepless night. Having a holiday is important whether you work or not. Everyone needs that escape from everyday life. I love holidaying on the coast. There’s something about the sea air that instantly calms me.

The great British seaside holiday is one of those things that makes a holiday very convenient. There’re no need to plan much – you can literally hop on a train or get in the car and go. There are always cheap big brand hotels or pretty little seaside B&Bs to stay in. Or maybe you love taking your caravan out with you? I think a campervan would be ideal in our family for those quick weekend getaways.

Of course, if you all have your passports in date, you might want to enjoy a warmer coastline on the continent. Even in the winter, there are places in Europe that are warm enough to enjoy being outdoors every day of your holiday. The dramatic coast of Liguria includes the port city of Genoa. It’s a very convenient destination because of the airport, seaport and train service in the area.

Genoa also offers some of the best coastal accommodation. When in Italy, you really must stay in an Italian villa. There are always plenty to choose from, and they offer you the freedom of having a home from home. Having more space than a hotel room means your children won’t feel so cooped up either. Of course, with all that coastline to explore, you’re not likely to be indoors much at all! The Liguria region is warm most of the year and is perfect for a last minute getaway.

If you’re looking for something even more exotic, the Greek Islands are only a few hours away by plane and boat. For a quiet, laid-back break on the beach, you can’t beat the crystal clear waters and warm sands of Greece. There are plenty of towns to enjoy as well. Coves, bays and long lengths of beautiful sand are one of the main reasons Greece is such a popular holiday destination. The hospitality here is friendly too. There are lots of different hotels to choose from, and some are run by British ex-pats.

A bit closer to home, you can find Portugal. Like Greece, this area has had a lot of financial difficulties. This benefits the holidaymaker as things like eating out tend to be cheaper. When you have your children with you, it’s not always fun to travel too far, but Lisbon can be reached in an hour or two. Accommodation often needs booking in advance though as it’s so popular.

Alternatively, consider going a bit further afield. Europe isn’t the only place with beautiful beaches! Take a look at these yacht rentals in Marina Del Rey in Los Angeles, for example. A yacht rental can be a great way to experience the coast from the water, giving you a different view to everyone else back on land. The privacy and peacefulness can be luxurious and the sound of waves can be calming, making it perfect for if you just need a holiday to wind down.

It is so nice to take the kids away for a beach holiday. As much as I love the convenience of Britain for the coastline, sometimes you need to travel away to guarantee the weather! Enjoy your next trip to the beach.
